The Technical Advisor on Sports Development to the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba, has reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to empowering girls and women through sports while ensuring they receive equal attention with their male counterparts.
Dr Osetoba stated this in Ado Ekiti while commemorating the 2026 International Women’s Day.
She explained that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration has remained deliberate in promoting women’s participation and empowerment in sports since assuming office.
The Technical Advisor noted that her appointment to the position was part of the governor’s broader effort to give women greater opportunities to contribute to governance and development.
She also highlighted that several women have been entrusted with key positions across different sectors in the state as part of the administration’s inclusive governance approach.
Dr Osetoba assured female athletes in Ekiti State of sustained government support and programmes aimed at strengthening their growth and participation in sports.
She added that the government’s efforts align with the theme of the 2026 International Women’s Day, Rights, Justice and Action for All Women and Girls.
